Learn Safe Chainsaw Use

Learn to confidently operate a chainsaw while minimising risks and hazards. The course is perfect for beginner chainsaw users in the workplace or home-gardeners looking to formalise their skills. Half theory, half practical the two-day course covers:

• The Approved Code of Practice
• Safe fuel use and transport
• PPE use
• Hazard ID in relation to chainsaw use
• Basic maintenance
• Kickback control
• Up, down and bore cuts
• Chainsaw safety features
• Starting methods
• Identification of unsafe chainsaw faults
• Tension and compression wood

At the conclusion of the course you will be given a certificate and awarded the following NZQA unit standards:

• 6916 – Demonstrate knowledge of the rules relating to chainsaw use
• 6917 – Demonstrate basic chainsaw operation
